Tokyo to Okutama

Two hours west of Shinjuku, the city stops.

The Ome Line runs through the outer edge of Tokyo into Okutama — one of the few places inside the metropolitan boundary where the river still runs clear and the trail doesn't have a crowd.

Cherry blossoms in the city. Cold water and rock faces by afternoon.

These photographs were made on Kodak Portra 35mm film on a single day in late March. Helinox wear throughout. Nothing staged.
